I didn't know Ruth, however, Betty Peters was a good friend of mine. I'm so sorry to hear of Ruth's passing and wish you all of God's love and healing. I to wouldn't have known without the obit in the Columbus Dispatch. Thank you for that.

I was in the convent with Ruth Ann, and have never forgotten her. She was always smiling, so proud of being from Somerset ("God's Country"), and could tell a good story. She told us of the family farm being over the hill from St. Joseph Priory - the first Catholic church in Ohio. She told us about the statue of General Sheridan ("Phil") in the center of town. She told a great story about her own delayed birth - being expected, I think, around the end of October, but "Halloween came and went. . . Thanksgiving came and went. . . CHRISTMAS came and went. . . NEW YEARS came and went! . . VALENTINE'S DAY CAME AND WENT!!!" Holy Cow - what an entry into the world! And she told us there was no reason for people to fight with each other, because (here, she named ALL the churches in Somerset of various denominations. . . and there were many!) got along fine . . . and if THEY could do it, ANYONE could do it. I am grateful you posted Ruth Ann's obituary in the Columbus Dispatch - I might not have seen it anywhere else. . . and I look forward to reconnecting with her in heaven!

What a wonderful recounting of your memory of Ruth Ann. Even though I didn't know her personally she sounds like a wonderful person. Betty Peters was a good friend of mine and I certainly do miss her. I'm sure their reunion in heaven has been wonderful.
