William S. and Laura F. Davy Obituary
William Samuel Davy Jr., born March 11, 1936, and his beloved wife Laura Fern (Wheatley) Davy, born July 9, 1936, entered Heaven’s gates just hours apart on September 27, 2025. After 69 years of marriage, they departed this life in a way only God Himself could orchestrate—together. Bill was preceded in death by his father, William Davy Sr.; his mother, Eloise (Bollinger) Davy; and his brother, Tom Davy. He is survived by his sister, Barbara Thornton. Laura was preceded in death by her father, John Wheatley; her mother, Francis (Crum) Wheatley; her sister Eleanor Norris, and her brother, Gene Wheatley. She is survived by her sister, Mazi Lovell. Together, they are survived by their two children, William Davy III (Brenda) and Debra Purpura (Mike); their cherished grandchildren, Brandy Culver (Paul), Michael McCallen (Jessica), Marc McCallen (Danielle), Joshua Davy (Amanda), Brittany Budd (Ben), and Dylan Davy (Hannah); 15 great-grandchildren, Morrow, Elleigh, Pete, Joshua, Luke, Jace, Isla, Levi, Everleigh, Jhett, Dawson, Jenevieve, Harper, Dale, and Lincoln; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. In 1965, Bill and Laura moved to Brownsville, where they built a life rooted in hard work, family, and community. Together, they owned and operated Brownsville Propane for 34 years, earning the respect and friendship of many. Bill was known for his hardworking hands and gentle spirit, often found welding, creating, or tinkering in his building. Laura brought joy and laughter wherever she went, with a love for collecting Precious Moments, playing bingo, swinging and singing on her porch, and sharing her quick wit. Above all, they cherished time spent with their grandchildren, whom they helped raise with warmth and love. At 11:32 a.m. on September 27, Bill “Pawpaw” peacefully entered eternity, assured of his salvation through Jesus Christ. His life reflected his faith daily, and his family rejoices in the truth that he now rests in the presence of his Savior. Later that same evening, at 10:12 p.m., the love of his life Laura “Mawmaw” quietly followed, passing peacefully in her sleep. Even without being told of his passing, she called out for him in the moments he was leaving this world—an undeniable sign that their souls were woven together. Their love story, which spanned nearly seven decades, is one of faith, devotion, and family. Now reunited in Heaven, their lives testify to God’s perfect plan and to the eternal hope found in Jesus. They will be cremated together, their ashes mingled, just as their lives were intertwined here on earth. Though their passing leaves a profound void, their family celebrates a legacy of love, faith, and devotion that will live on for generations. Truly, theirs was a “job well done” here on earth, and we rejoice knowing they now rest in the arms of their Savior. Family and friends are invited to gather for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Grace Lutheran Church in Thornville. (65 East Columbus Street, Thornville, Ohio 43076) A Memorial Service will be led by Pastor Tom Pound at 12:00pm. Open Fellowship will follow in the church basement anytime from 12:30-3:00pm.
