William Eugene "Bill" Mohler Obituary
William Eugene “Bill” Mohler, 75, of Somerset, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Bill was born on May 17, 1950, in Lancaster, Ohio to the late Eugene and Jane Mohler. He grew up on the family farm in Thornville, Ohio. Bill graduated from Sheridan High School, class of 1968 and attended The Ohio State University. He retired from Bayer Material Science in 2014. Bill dedicated his life to serving others, from his years in the National Guard, to being a member of the Somerset American Legion Leo Ryan Post 58, the Somerset-Reading Twp. Volunteer Fire Department, Somerset Lions Club and Ducks Unlimited as well as serving as Mayor of Somerset and Village Council for over 30 years – he gave his time, energy and heart to his community. We are heartbroken over the loss of Bill. He was a devoted husband, father and the very best Grampy to Brielle. Family was everything to him, and the love Bill gave so freely will live on in all of us. He will be remembered for his loyalty, kindness, sense of duty as well as humor, chocolate chip cookies and the way he showed up for the people he loved and the town he cared so deeply about. Bill had a passion for convertibles, especially Volkswagens and enjoyed driving VIPs in parades. Bill was married to Margaret (Lally) Mohler for 55 years and was an amazing husband. He is also survived by two daughters, Gaby Mohler (Clarence Wicks Jr.) and Andi Pullie (Todd Pullie and daughter Arrianna Wise); his granddaughter, Brielle Wicks; a sister, Marie Raab; a brother, Don Mohler (Joyce) and their families; sister-in-law, Bernie Hineline; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, James and Bernadine “Twinnie” Lally; brothers-in-law, Wayne Raab and John Hineline; grandson, Savon Pullie; and extended members of the Mohler and Cooperrider families. Thanks to The Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital physicians, nurses and others who cared for all of us and gave us extra time with him. Friends may call from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, May 17, 2026, at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 18, 2026, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Tom Gardner officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery. Somerset American Legion Leo Ryan Post 58 will provide graveside military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Somerset-Reading Twp. Firefighters Association, P.O. Box 148, Somerset, Ohio 43783 in memory of Bill.
