William Don "Billy" Edwards

William Don “Billy” Edwards, 63, passed away on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 following a lengthy illness. Billy was born in a set of twins on January 21, 1958 to William Harvey and Anna Kathryn (Carder) Edwards. Delightful to all, these identical twin boys found mischief and fun their whole lives and were best friends. Billy was a longtime resident of Somerset, Ohio. He attended Northern Local Schools and was a 1977 graduate of Sheridan High School. Billy loved music and participated in the high school band playing drums. This talent would express itself in young adulthood as he continued playing drums in the locally followed band, Ambush. Billy loved driving long-haul trucks and seeing the country, quite often partner-driving with his twin brother David. Most recently, a long- time employee of Dunn’s Trucking. He is preceded in death by his parents; his older sisters, Linda Sue Riggs (Dallas) and Jeanne Kay Strickland (Tom); and his twin brother, David Carder Edwards. Billy is survived by siblings, Peggy Ann Walser (Don) and Michael Dana Edwards; beloved maternal aunts, Dolores Jean Hays (Bob) and Janis Kay Pickering (Reggie); many nieces, nephews, cousins mourn his loss as we are a very close-knit family; and Kim McConahay, a longtime companion whose constant care was outstanding! The family would like to express its deepest gratitude to the many friends, family members and health-care providers who made this tough process easier. Billy truly appreciated all the efforts to comfort, console and even humor him. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday, August 13, 2021 at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 14, 2021 at the New Matamoras Baptist Church in New Matamoras, Ohio.
