Sonny Walter Tiller Obituary
Sonny Walter Tiller was born August 2, 1947, in Paintsville, Kentucky. He went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 12, 2024, at the age of 76, at his home with his fiancee’ and grandchildren in Somerset, Ohio. To anyone who knew him, he was a devoted Christian, one of the funniest men, and one of the kindest people you would ever meet. He loved his family, loved his country, and was always willing to help anyone who needed it. Sonny was a Marine Corps veteran and served two terms in Vietnam. He was a sharpshooter and very proud of his service in The United States Marine Corps. He was a proud lifetime member of The American Legion Post 726 in East Fultonham, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex Tiller (Lora Stepp) and Aileen Mills (Joseph DeBellis), his sister, Ina Sue Freck, his wife, Eugenia Louise (Powell) Tiller, and his great-granddaughter, Lorelai Compton. He is survived by his fiancee’, Robin Collinsworth; his son, Joseph Eugene Nickel (Lura); his daughter, Heather Aileen Louise Newsome (Donald); two sisters, Shiela Tiller Howard and Sandy Merrick (Frank); and one brother, Daniel L. Tiller; a great many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Angelica Kuker (Bradley), Jeremy Turner, Mason Nickel, Sonny M. Tiller, Chandler Nickel, Noah Wooten, Giovanni Compton, Killian Kuker, Asher Kuker, and Emma Tiller. Recently, Sonny was helping to raise his fiancee’s grandchildren whom he had also considered his own, Michelle, Ava, Kaylee, and ReBekah Davison, the light and shining stars of his elder years. A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Newton American Legion Post #726, 6540 Old Town Rd., East Fultonham, Ohio 43735.
