Roger Francis Danison, 87, of Somerset, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, October 16, 2021 after an extended illness.
Roger was born July 1, 1934 in Columbus, Ohio, the son of the late Edgar and Mildred (Mautz) Danison. He worked as a realtor with Century 21. He retired after serving as Hopewell Township Trustee for many years. He enjoyed spending winter months in Winter Haven, Florida where he became an active member of their community and made many friends.
Roger played trumpet for the Lancaster Community Band. He loved riding his bicycles, watching sports including local high school sports, and was the #1 fan of his grandson, who played college baseball.
Roger had a gift of talking to people, whether they were his longtime friends, new neighbors, or random strangers. He will be remembered by many for his genuineness, kindness and positivity.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Joyce (Wilkins) Danison; his three sons, Jack (grandchildren, Taylor and Ali), Lyndon, and Kyle (daughter-in-law, Myla and grandson Roger).
He was preceded in death in addition to his parents, by his two brothers, John and Kenneth.
Friends may call from 3-5 p.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at the Somerset United Methodist Church, 139 E. Main St., Somerset, Ohio where services will be held at 5:00 p.m. with Shad Holley officiating, assisted by Melody Rezac.
