Robert “Bob” Gutridge, 89, of Glenford, passed away on Monday, April 19, 2021 at his home.
Bob was born October 8, 1931 to the late Paul and Mary (Hupp) Gutridge of Brownsville. He was a 1949 graduate of Glenford High School and married Lois Swinehart on February 23, 1952 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Glenford.
Bob served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. He was a general contractor and built and remodeled many homes and businesses in Perry, Fairfield, Licking, and Muskingum counties. He was dedicated to hard work and producing quality craftsmanship. He was active in the community, serving as a volunteer fireman, fire chief, and arson investigator on the Perry County Fire Task Force. Bob was also a member of Good Hope Lutheran Church, where he held numerous positions over the years.
Bob is survived by his wife, Lois E. “Sally” (Swinehart) Gutridge; a son, Kent (Michelle) Gutridge; a daughter, Lisa (Dennis) Deavers; six grandchildren, Katie (Adam) Cook, Anna (Travis) Rodgers, Matthew and Morgan Deavers, Sarah and Paul Gutridge; sisters, Thelma Dill of Seattle and Doris Millspaugh of Columbus; a twin brother, Richard (Bernadine) Gutridge of Dade City, Florida; a sister-in-law, Reba Swinehart; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents and Paul’s second wife, Jessie, he was preceded in death by a sister, Velda Gutridge, a brother and sister-in-law, Darrell and Linda Gutridge; and brothers-in-law, Joe Dill and Carl Swinehart.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, no public calling hours will be observed. A private service will be held with burial in Good Hope Lutheran Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Genesis Hospice and Palliative Care or to the American Cancer Society.
