Robert D. Bowers

Robert D. Bowers, 85, of Somerset, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Genesis Emergency Room in Somerset. Bob was born October 12, 1939, near Amanda, Ohio, the son of the late Russell R. and Tressa (VanFossen) Bowers. Bob was a 1958 graduate of Amanda High School and was a Korean Conflict Army veteran. He worked as a barber for 47 years in Columbus. Bob is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carolyn A. (Hillis) Bowers, whom he married February 14, 1961; one daughter, Rhonda Walser of Crooksville; one son, Robert Blaine Bowers of Mansfield; four grandsons, Matt, Aaron, Phillip, and Caleb; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul Bowers; six sisters, Rosie Hutchins, Geraldine Miller, Dorothy Mills, Betty Jean Hillyard, Judy Payne, and Debbie Rhymer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Glenn, James, and Richard; and three sisters, Maisie, Ruby, and JoAnn. A private graveside service will be held in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset is entrusted with the arrangements.
