Ricky Gene Linnabary, 68, of Somerset, Ohio passed away on August 13th, 2025, surrounded by his family. He is the son of Robert Gene Linnabary and Jeannine Gail Williamson. Rick was born on January 10th, 1957. He was the most selfless, strong and loving soul. To know him was to love him. He was the neighbor who showed up to help without being asked, shoveling snow off your sidewalks or driveway, mowing your lawn to make your life easier. He never expected anything for these tasks, nor did he want anything. He was everyone’s dad, everyone’s grandpa. He would listen to you, actually listen, and give advice or help if possible. He had helped many kids and adults through a lot of difficult times. He always had extra food made and drinks in the refrigerator ready for anyone that wanted them or needed them. He lived life the way he wanted to, never judging others, never putting others down, never knowing a stranger and if you did happen to be someone he didn’t know you were soon shortly his friend. He taught us all to love the world around us, to love people well, to love life even when it is hard. He was an avid gardener, bird watcher, amazing cook, music lover, and a man with amazing strength and lawn mowing skills. He loved to travel and would only take the back roads. He said that he wants to see everything, and you cannot see that from a highway. He loved the Smoky Mountains, especially Cades Cove. He loved Virginia Beach and would rarely come out of the water. He loved everything about Marietta, especially watching the boat races with his wife Jeri, where they got to know a lot of the professional drivers. He was proud of all his grandchildren. He loved listening to videos of his granddaughter, Emily Bartholic, sing during her theater shows. He enjoyed seeing his grandson, William Bartholic, and his work on boats, cars and RVs. He loved Ohio University Football and Marching Band, going to every home game to watch his grandson, Carson Bartholic, march and play the bass drum with the 110. He shared a special bond with his granddaughter, Addison Sealover, always talking about her kindness to everyone, her work ethic, and genuine love for all people. He loved watching his youngest grandson, Mason Sealover, play basketball and football. He loved his children (Sean Bartholic and Cassie Linnabary Stewart) teaching them to be fiercely independent, to do what is right, help others without expecting something in return and taught them to have a strong work ethic. He told them how much he loved them and how proud he was of them. Hearing those words meant the world. He absolutely loved his wife, Jeri Harr. She is the love of his life, his best friend, his caregiver, the one person who could rein him in when he got heated or a little loud. He told her that she made their house a home. Someplace that was stable, someplace that was safe, someplace full of love. She is his person, and he is hers. The world will never be the same without him. He is loved, he is missed and always carried in our hearts. Next time we hear the waves crash upon the shore at the ocean we will know he is with us, he will be with us when we see the sunrise and set over the mountains, he will be with us in the morning when we smell hot coffee, he will be with us when we smell fresh cut grass, he will be with us with every bird that lands at our feeders, he will be with us with every walk in the forest. He will continue to watch over us in all aspects of life. He may not be with us physically but will always be with us telling us to slow down, go see the things out there in the world, go to the concert, eat the good food, and live life. Truly live life. He is survived by his wife Jeri Harr, son Sean Bartholic (Dawn Crooks), daughter Cassie Linnabary Stewart (Matt Stewart), stepdaughter Heather Post and grandchildren: Emily Bartholic, William Bartholic, Carson Bartholic, Olivia Crooks, Addison Sealover, Mason Sealover and his mother Jeannine Williamson McClary.
