Richard A. Knisley

Richard A. Knisley, 79, formerly of New Reading, passed away peacefully in his sleep in the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Chevelle and Adam Trent of Thornville, Ohio on Sunday, February 5, 2023. Richard was born January 20, 1944, in New Reading to the late Everett and Martha Jane (Dupler) Knisley. He was a Vietnam era Army veteran, stationed in Germany. Richard was previously employed by Lempco in New Lexington and retired from Westerman’s in Bremen. Many people knew Richard because of his ice cream truck business. Richard was a devoted Christian and a member of Bremen Bible Holiness Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on cars, going roller skating, dancing and spending time with his family. He was known for working hard and was always a person you could count on. He was always a happy person to be around and loved his family dearly. He will be missed by all who knew him – he touched many hearts! Richard is survived by and lived with his daughter, Chevelle (Adam) Trent; three grandsons, Andrew, Makai, and Parker Trent; a daughter, Traci Smith; a son, Joseph (Heather) Smith; several grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Andy (Karen) Knisley, Robert (Janet) Knisley, and William (Cathy) Knisley; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sherrie Jo (Fown) Knisley. Friends may call from 3-6 p.m. Thursday, February 9, 2023, at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 10, 2023, with the Rev.
