Ramona Jean Plaisted, 91, of New Lexington, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born February 26, 1934, in New Lexington, Ohio, she was the daughter of Walter and Blanche (Sanderson) Carney. Ramona graduated from St. Aloysius Academy in 1952 and was a lifelong member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. She worked for several years as a telephone operator with Ohio Bell. Affectionately known as “Mamaw” to everyone who knew her, Ramona will be remembered for her warm heart and gentle spirit. She enjoyed watching The Waltons and spending quiet moments working on word searches. She is survived by her four children, James Plaisted, David (Glenna) Plaisted, Lisa (Brad) Houk, and Matthew Plaisted; six grandchildren, Taylor (Tommy) Russell, Shaylyn VanWey, Courtney (Adam) Jenkins, Amanda (Vladimir Reyes) Plaisted, Logan (Samantha Whaley) Plaisted, and Alex Houk; six great-grandchildren, including Sawyer Cannon and Blair and Ivy Russell; her brother, David (Linda) Carney; and her pet and faithful companion, Oakley, who also brought her great joy. In addition to her parents, Ramona was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Plaisted; daughter, Cynthia Plaisted; and sister-in-law, Carol Carney. Ramona’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Hospice of Central Ohio—especially Angie Strate—for her exceptional care and compassion over the past two years, and to dear family friend Patricia McCoy for her kindness and support. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Monday, November 10, 2025, at St. Rose Catholic Church in New Lexington, Ohio with Father Emmanuel Adu Addai as Celebrant.
