Peggy Patterson Obituary

Peggy Ann Patterson, 75, of Somerset, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at Altercare of Somerset, surrounded by love. Peggy was born in Webbville, Kentucky, and raised in Somerset, Ohio, where her roots in family and hard work were planted early in life. She married the love of her life, James Patterson, and together they shared 41 years of marriage before his passing in 2017. In a beautiful and bittersweet moment, Peggy went to Heaven to be with James on September 16th, just one day before what would have been their 49th wedding anniversary. When Peggy married James, she lovingly welcomed his nine children as her own, and together they built a beautiful, blended family filled with love, laughter, and resilience. She and James later welcomed six wonderful children of their own; Chad (Lisa) Fannin, Lisa Patterson, J.B. Patterson, Billie (Grady) Patterson, Gregory Patterson, and Laura (Nick) Karr. Peggy’s greatest joy was her family. She was a proud and loving grandmother to David Boring, Tyler Fannin, Tessa Boring, Logan Pyle, Jaylyn Patterson, Caitlin Patterson, Gage Patterson, Hunter Pyle, Alexis Patterson, Guinevere Patterson, McKenna Fannin, Aliyah Patterson, Cohen Pyle, Shelby Patterson, Lila Coulter, Baylee Dunwoody, Brayden Dunwoody, Kase Karr, Jaxon Pyle, Krew Karr, Mason Pyle, Noah Patterson, Maximus Patterson, Daniel Patterson—along with many great-grandchildren who were her pride and delight. She also shared a lifelong bond with her siblings, brothers, Bill (Cheryl) Fannin, Kenny Fannin, Dan (Kathy) Fannin, and Chris Fannin; and sisters, Judy Person, Teri (Jeff) Peck, as well as many nieces and nephews. Peggy also cherished the special relationships she built with her in-laws, “The Pattersons” over the years, enjoying the closeness and love that grew within her extended family. Family was the center of Peggy’s world. She was most proud of her children and found her greatest joy in being present in their lives in every way she could. Her legacy continues through her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish her love and guidance. Peggy had a way of making everyday moments special. She loved playing cards, gathering her family for Sunday dinners, listening to music, and enjoying a beer and a cigarette while laughing with those around her. Some of her fondest memories were dancing in the kitchen with James, moments that reflected the deep love and companionship they shared. Those who knew Peggy will remember her strength, her humor, and her unwavering devotion to her family. She lived her life with a fierce love and a generous heart, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and togetherness. Peggy will be deeply missed, but her spirit lives on in every story shared, every meal around the table, and every dance in the kitchen. Peggy is preceded in death by her husband, James Patterson; her parents, Jason and Exie B. Fannin; grandson, Thomas Jo Pyle; sisters, Barbara Hollingshead and Linda Patterson; and brothers, Robert and Mike Fannin.
