Pauline Mae “Polly” Walker, 89, passed away peacefully at her home in Thornville on Monday, January 24, 2022. Polly was born on July 6, 1932, in Wichita, Kansas to Everett and Elsie Baker. She graduated from Wesley Hospital School of Nursing in 1953, then moved to Ohio in 1963. She enjoyed a long nursing career, working for the Clouse Clinic in Somerset and Thornville Family Medical Center. After her retirement, she became a board member for Hospice of Central Ohio and volunteered her time there caring for others. She was a longtime active member of Olivet Church of the Brethren and volunteered for many organizations. Polly enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, cooking, sewing, and watching her husband and son participate in rodeo competitions. She will leave a lasting impact on all who had the privilege to know her. She is survived by her husband, James “Jake” Walker of almost 68 years; daughters, Jane Brooks, Janet (Andy) Hewitt and Julie (Steve) McGlaughlin; daughter-in-law, Shawn Walker; sister, Maryann (Harold) Kinser of Arizona; grandchildren, Brooke Hatcher, Garrett McGlaughlin, Dalton McGlaughlin, Andrea Watson, Trenton Hewitt, Lauren Cenky, Caley Boyden, Nikki Johnson, Alena Williams, Jared Brooks; and 10 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her son, John Walker. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Monday, January 31, 2022 at Olivet Church of the Brethren, 10788 Zion Rd. NW, Thornville, Ohio with Chaplain Daniel Fullen officiating. Friends may call from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. at the church.
