Paul E. “Skeeter” Shrider, 86, of Somerset, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2022. Skeeter was born February 22, 1936, to the late Willard “Gump” and Ferrell (Bare) Shrider. He was a 1954 graduate of Glenford High School. Skeeter was an Army veteran and served during the Korean Conflict. He was a brick layer for most of his career and later transitioned to the oil and gas industry. He had a lifelong love of basketball, playing in high school and then officiating for 25 years. He also enjoyed an annual tradition of attending the Ohio High School Boys State Basketball Tournament with his friends for over 50 consecutive years. He was a member of the Somerset American Legion Leo Ryan Post 58. He is survived by his daughters, Torie (Chuck) Underwood and Traci (Roger) Dupler; grandchildren, Haley (Justin) Retherford, Chelsey (Avery) Stalnaker, Reece Dupler, Anne Underwood; and great-grandson, Luke Retherford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Monna Shrider. A private burial will take place in Highland Cemetery in Glenford, Ohio.
