Paul Ours Obituary

Paul Eli Ours passed away unexpectedly on May 27th, 2023 in Somerset, Ohio. Paul
was born in Akron, Ohio on May 18, 1933 to the late Everett Eli and Zella Kathryn (Gainer) Ours. Paul was a graduate of Hebron High School, class of 1951. His wife Bonnie Faye (Schuman) Ours preceded Paul in death. He served in the Vietnam War during Operation Ranch Hand in the US Air Force as a Technical Sergeant flight engineer with the 12th Special Operations Squadron, retiring after 20 years of service. Paul was a successful business owner and a 51-year member of the Somerset Masonic Lodge #76 F & AM.
After retirement from the Air Force in 1972, Paul moved to his family’s farm and business in Somerset, Ohio where he owned and operated Ours Wrecker Service, junkyard, and auto repair for over 30 years. Paul was also an active member of Hopewell United Methodist Church in Glenford. Paul enjoyed his retirement years with his family, doing yard work, and spending time at Ours Wrecker Service in the office with his son and granddaughter, along with caring for his wife.
In addition to his wife and parents, Paul was preceded in death by his brothers William
Guy “Bill” Ours, Arthur “Art” Leroy Ours, and sister Evelyn Louise (Ours) Clay.
He is survived by his four sons Len Ours and his wife Kathy of Sarasota Florida, Jeff Ours and his wife Star of Glenford, Ohio, Michael Ours of Somerset, Ohio, David Ours and his wife Rhonda of Somerset, Ohio; siblings Everett Jesse Ours, Elizabeth Morgan and her husband Jerry, sister-in-law Diana Ours, Judy Dupler and her husband Ronald, Dale Ours and his wife Patty; grandchildren Rob Ours, Matt Ours and his wife Jenny and Jeff Ours and his wife Jen, Chris Ours and his wife Erin, Casey Cordray and her husband Nate, Briellen Ours and her husband Emmett, Harley Ours, Nash Ours, Braden Ours and his wife Evan, Emmalee King and her husband Tyler, Madison Adams and her husband David; sixteen great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call on Thursday, June 1, 2023, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset, OH and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Funeral services will be held at Hopewell United Methodist Church in Glenford, Ohio at 11 am with Rev. John Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Somerset cemetery with the Somerset American Legion conducting military rites at the cemetery.
The family prefers that memorials be directed to the Hopewell United Methodist Church, 11742 Gower Rd, Glenford, OH 43739, and the Hopewell Twp. Fire Department, PO Box 4, Glenford, OH 43739.
