Patricia "Pat" (Fleer) Sterner

Patricia “Pat” (Fleer) Sterner, 91, of Somerset, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Altercare in Somerset, Ohio. Pat was born March 3, 1932, in Somerset, Ohio to the late Frank Leo and Mary Catherine (Dittoe) Fleer. She was a lifelong resident of Somerset. She graduated as Valedictorian from Holy Trinity Catholic High School and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she served on the Rosary Altar Society. She was a member of the Somerset American Legion Auxiliary and Patchwork Sisters Club. She made and donated baby quilts for newborn babies through the Help Me Grow organization for many years. Pat grew up on a farm where she learned many skills and obtained her love of animals. Until her marriage to Bob, she was employed by Nationwide Insurance Company in Columbus in the accounting department, and by the Somerset Post Office. Pat was devoted to Bob, her husband of 62 years, and to their five daughters. She and Bob built their family home together and she did all the electrical wiring for the home. She had great joy in attending sporting events for her daughters and grandchildren. Everyone who knew Pat knew how selfless and hard-working she was. Her Catholic faith was a huge part of her life, and she had an endless devotion to volunteering with St. Joseph Catholic Church and Holy Trinity Catholic School. She and Bob were the owners of Sterner’s Sales & Service for many years. Pat is survived by daughters, Carol Krofft (Marty Cawthon), Diane Sterner, Linda Strait (Terry Wright), Tina (Bryan) Boyer and Amy (Brent) Curry; grandchildren, Amanda Krofft (Jud Carnes), Andrew Krofft, Allie (Kyle) Vaubel, Cameron Strait, Taylor Strait, Ethan Strait, Austin Boyer, Mason Boyer and Drew Boyer; great-grandchildren, Beckett Vaubel and Baylor Vaubel; sister in-law, Agnes (Sr. Matthias) Sterner plus numerous nieces and nephews. Pat is predeceased in addition to her parents by her loving husband, Robert “Bob” Sterner, infant daughter, her brothers, Robert “Bob” Fleer and Martin Fleer and sister-in-law, Hannah Fleer. The family would like to thank Altercare of Somerset and Absolute Hospice for their support and care for Pat. Friends may call from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, March 12, 2023, at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 13, 2023, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Somerset. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
