Patricia Ann (Hall) Edwards

Patricia Ann (Hall) Edwards, 78, of Somerset, Ohio, loving wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away on Monday September 2, 2024, at FairHope Hospice and Palliative Care after a lingering illness. Pat was born July 28, 1946, in Santa Ana, California. She was the fourth of ten children of Anna Louise (Fanning) Hall and Silas Woodrow Hall of Virginia and West Virginia. From Santa Ana, the family moved to Tennessee and, eventually, to Carroll, Ohio when Pat was five years old. Pat graduated with high honors, from Bloom-Carroll High School in Carroll, Ohio in 1964. She was valedictorian of her senior class. During her academic years she set high standards for her siblings and classmates. Pat was a member of the marching and concert band, glee club, chorus, co-editor of the senior yearbook “Carrollian”, vice president of her senior class, the scholarship team, a member of the National Honor Society, D.A.R. Citizenship Award, Buckeye Girls State, “C” Association, and a student teacher. Pat earned awards at regional and state competitions. Pat continued her education taking classes at Ohio University, Lancaster, Ohio and at The Ohio State University. She earned a bachelor’s degree in “speech communication” from Huntington College, Huntington, Indiana, in 1975. Pat was a substitute teacher in Perry and Fairfield County schools. Pat and John served nine different congregations over the years in Ohio, Indiana, and Florida. She played piano and directed women’s ministries in most of these locations. In the last 20 years, prior to retirement, their church home was Hopewell Church of Somerset/Glenford, Ohio. Pat will be dearly missed by her husband, Pastor John E. Edwards; daughter, Darci Joy Edwards for whom she showed deep love and dedication; and two adopted children, Daniel and Dina; four grandchildren, Anica, Bella, Howard Robert, and Margot Suzette; siblings, Silas Woodrow Hall II, Barbara Jean Hall Hightower, Charlotte Emily Hall (David) Blair, Betty Leigh Hall (Robert) Johnson, Richard Lynn (Lori) Hall, Kathryn Denise Hall (Bruce) Rarick, Gary Allen (Teri) Hall. She was preceded in death by her parents, Silas W. Hall (1918-1997) and Anna Louise (Fanning) Hall (1923-2006); one sister, Evelyn Louise (Hall) Smith (1944-2013) and one brother, Keith Edward Hall (1954-2024). Friends may call from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Friday, September 6, 2024, at Hopewell United Methodist Church, 11742 Gower Rd., Glenford, Ohio where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Doug Lynn officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hopewell United Methodist Church. Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset is entrusted with the arrangements.
