Nellie Mae White, 91, of Mt. Perry, Ohio, died peacefully at 1:15 p.m. on Monday, December 12, 2022, at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville, Ohio, surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born January 28, 1931, in Mt. Perry, the daughter of the late Willard and Daisy Koble Browning. She was a retiree of United Technologies, and a life-long resident of Perry County.
Nellie’s greatest joy was caring for her husband and sons. She had an outgoing personality, always eager to see friends and meet new people. She took great pride in her family and her home, and still loved mowing her lawn well into her 80’s. She was a small but mighty woman, who kept a positive attitude clear up until her passing. She loved preparing her yard and porches every year for the return of her beloved hummingbirds. She cared for and fed them all summer long, knowing they would return the next Spring. She loved living in the country, and never found a greater place to live than in the rolling hills and winding roads of Mt. Perry.
Nellie is survived by her devoted husband of 68 years, Donald E. White; two sons, Donald (Brenda) White of Palm City, Florida, and James Michael White of Mt. Perry; three grandchildren, Kristin (Andrew) White, Kelly (Matthew) Rightmire, and Natalie (Garry) Forth, all of Florida; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Patsy Toll of Findlay, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Mark Richard White, who died in April, 2022; two brothers, James and William Browning; and two sisters, Bonna Cochran, and Betty Batten.
A private graveside service will be held in New Lexington at a later date.
Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset is entrusted with the arrangements.
