Neil Weston Cooperider, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away May 23, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family in Mt. Perry following a short illness. He was born October 26, 1937, to the late Merrill (Bill) Cooperider and Louise (Melick) Cooperider. He was an alumnus of Glenford High School (Class of ’55) and The Ohio State University (Class of ’59). He married Linda (Rose) Cooperider, his wife of nearly 63 years, on June 30, 1962, and they have four children, Brian, Todd, Sheryl Blank (Todd), and Lori, and three grandchildren, Jonathan Blank, Evan Cooperider (Marcy Latona), and Christine Schultz (Ethan). Neil worked for John Deere Company over 35 years and upon his retirement continued to farm the Melick family farm in Mt. Perry until March of 2025. He was an avid traveler, lover of tractor pulls (both as participant and spectator) and lifetime Ohio State Basketball and football fan. Neil was preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Cooperider, sister-in-law, Janet Cooperider, nephew, Ronald Cooperider, brother-in-law, Clyde Rose, and brother-in-law, Bill Rose. In addition to his wife, children and grandchildren, he is survived by his sister-in-law, Nancy (Rose) Colburn (David) and many nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held at Bope-Thomas Funeral Home, 203 S. Columbus St., Somerset, Ohio 43783 on Friday, May 30, 2025 from 7-9 p.m. and the funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Maurice Mitchell officiating. Burial to follow at Highland Cemetery in Glenford.
