Ned L. Underwood Jr., 67, passed away on Sunday, November 3, as the result of a tragic accident at his home in New Lexington, Ohio. Ned was born on April 8, 1957, to Barbara Stultz Underwood and Ned Underwood Sr. in Columbus, Ohio. He was a lifelong resident of New Lexington. He graduated from Denison University and Ohio University and went on to teach comprehensive social studies and coach football, weightlifting, and track at his beloved New Lexington Junior High and High Schools from 1980 to 2015. Ned was a dedicated member of Elks Lodge No. 509, where he proudly served on its Charitable Foundation Committee for many years. He was known for his deep love of family and friends and was the ultimate "go-to man" for his entire extended family. A lifelong sports fan, he was devoted to the Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns, and he waited patiently (not really) his whole life for an NFL Super Bowl win. Ned was preceded in death by his father, Ned Underwood Sr. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Gail (Snider) Underwood; his mother, Barbara Underwood; his three children: Brendan (Caroline) Underwood, Kyle (Amy) Underwood, and Lydia (Scott) Graves; his five grandchildren: Colin Underwood, 11; Isla Underwood, 2; a baby brother expected later this year; Kennedy, 8; and Luke Graves, 6 ; and his siblings: Jennifer Wolfe, Libby (Ted) Cotterman, and Sara Underwood. He was also very special to his brothers-in-law, Mike (Maureen) Snider and David (Laurie) Snider, and he cherished his many nieces and nephews. The family extends their deepest gratitude to Perry County 911, the Perry County Sheriff
