Mary Anne (Green) McGreevy Obituary

Mary Anne McGreevy, 98, of Somerset, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and neighbor, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at her home. Mary Anne was born June 6, 1927, in Somerset, Ohio, the daughter of the late Joseph and Edith (Miller) Green. She graduated from Holy Trinity School in 1945. She was the devoted wife of Paul J. McGreevy, Jr., whom she married in 1946. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Rosary Altar Society, Nightingale Mothers’ Club, the Somerset American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and the Fairhope Support Social. Mary Ann is survived by four daughters, Darlene (Andy) McMillan of New Lexington, Jeanne Hill of Nelsonville, Paula (Kenny) Swick of Hebron, Martha (Carolyn) McGreevy of Columbus; and one son, Mark (Sarah) McGreevy of Ocala, Florida; grandchildren, Amy (Brent) Abram, Andy McMillan, Carri McMillan, Julie (Troy) Yanosik, Maggie (Zach) Odenthal, Sarah (Scott) Steenrod, Emily (Andy) Dodd, Jesse (Geoff) Hill, Damen Swick, Brun (Devan) Swick; 19 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, whom she dearly loved. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul (2011); her sisters, Eva Hillis, Julia Kinsel, and Peg Henery; her brother, Bob Green; and her son-in-law, Bill Hill. She was supported by a devoted group of women caregivers, allowing her to remain in her home and play 500 Rummy every day. The deuces were always wild! We were told by one of her many dear friends that her legacy will forever live on in the streets of Somerset. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Andre’ Joseph LaCasse O.P. as celebrant. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Catholic School or Fairhope Hospice.
