Mary Klingler Obituary

Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Klingler, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2020 in her home of 59 years. Betty, as everyone called her, was born on October 1, 1933 to Wilfred and Gertrude Bennett in Winthrop, Massachusetts, where she resided until meeting the love of her life at a USO dance in Boston. Dale and Betty were married on April 14, 1956 and moved to Ohio. Betty was a whirlwind of activity. She loved being around people and was a happy, generous person. She had a big heart and showed care and compassion for everyone. She loved to dance and you never knew when it might happen (City Center Mall, with Buskers in San Francisco, in the living room…) Betty’s primary passion was her family. She loved her own family and her extended family as well. She always remembered birthdays and anniversaries with a card or letter. She was a wonderful mother who was patient, kind and always available with a hug or an open ear. Betty was a devout Christian who attended church regularly and loved her daily Bible Study. She was an active volunteer – with the schools, her church, Hospice, and with the Big Sister Program. Betty is survived by her husband Dale; son James Klingler; daughters Beth Ann Morgan and Denise DeNunzio; and two sons-in-law, Lloyd Brewer and Steve DeNunzio. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Matthew (Jamie) Brewer, Christopher (Abbie) Brewer, David (Alaina) Brewer, Brian DeNunzio, Grace DeNunzio, Maria Morgan, Cole Morgan and Trey Morgan; and two great-grandchildren, Lincoln and Callaway. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Kathy Brewer and siblings, Bill Bennett, David Bennett, and Barbara Higham. A service will be held for immediate family, including nieces and nephews at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 3, 2020 at Groveport Zion Lutheran Church, 6014 Groveport Rd., Groveport, Ohio. Masks and social distancing will be required. The service will be available via video at www.groveportzion.org after the event. You may listen to the service live via radio station 92.7, which can be accessed from the church’s parking lot. You may also join the “Fans of Betty” facebook group for updates about livestreaming.
