Mary Ellen (Shaw) Danison

Mary Ellen (Shaw) Danison, 91, of Somerset, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at Morrison House in Zanesville, Ohio. Mary was born June 3, 1930, to the late John and Helen (Chilcote) Shaw and was a 1948 graduate of Somerset High School. She had worked as a receptionist for Dr. Michael Clouse, Jr. DDS, and then as secretary for McLain, Hill, Rugg and Associates, Certified Public Accountants until she retired. Mary was a member of the Zion Reformed United Church of Christ where she played the organ for services for many years, and the Somerset Evangelical and Reform Church, where she played the organ as well. She was a former member of Robert Young Mother’s Club and the Somerset Order of the Eastern Star. Mary loved going to her children and grandchildren’s sporting events and various extracurricular activities. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends. Mary is survived by her children, Sharon (Jim) Starr, Steve (Doris) Danison, Geary (Mickey) Danison and Brent (Kim) Danison; grandchildren, Jennifer Starr, Katie (Matt) Miller, Kurt (Chrisy) Danison, Kelly Danison, Barbary (Justin) Sanderson, Cheyenne (Josh) Wright, Jeremiah Danison, and Sydney Danison; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Kenneth Danison; and a sister, Ilene Caton. A private funeral will be held.
