Mary Margie (Stull) Betts, 81, of Somerset, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at the Pickering House Hospice Center in Lancaster, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mary was born on January 13, 1940, the daughter of Jasper Newton and Iva Sarah (Baughman) Stull. Mary was a devoted Christian with great faith. She retired from Good Samaritan Medical Center in Zanesville, where she cared deeply for her many patients. Mary is survived by a son, Bryan Smith of Zanesville, and 3 daughters, Carole (David) Gilder and Mary (Randy) Hooper both of Zanesville, and Sarah (Mark) McGreevy of Florida. Grand children, Casey Heiney, Candice Swingle, Marc Hammer, Brad Hammer, Kristin Downey, Wesley Hammer, Nancy Gallien, Julie Reed and Amy Smith. Great grandchildren, Waylon, Emory and Rayna Heiney, Laila and Landon Swingle, Danika Downey, Jaiden, Myleigh and Weston Hammer, Eliza and Kate Hammer, Kolton Correllus and Bryson Gallien. Also very special friend, Beth Cooperrider. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Donald R Betts (2010), sister Opel Brooks, 5 brothers Clyde, Henry, Richard, Eugene and John Stull, and daughter-in-law Yong Hui Smith.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, July 30, 2021 at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Stephen Carmody as celebrant. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery.
