Marjorie (Cotterman) Ream, 98, of Somerset, passed away on
Sunday, October 10, 2021 at Fairfield Medical Center.
Marjorie was born September 5, 1923 (one of 7 children) in Glenford, Ohio, the daughter of the late Lottie (Palmer) and Guy R. Cotterman.
She was a 1941 graduate of Glenford High School and attended Bliss Business College in Columbus. She worked for the Selective Service State Headquarters for six years and the Internal Revenue in Zanesville for six years. She attended Ohio University in Lancaster, earning her GRI Graduate Real Estate Institute Designation and Graduate Senior Appraiser Designation. She was employed as manager of the C.V. Perry & Co. Realtors in Somerset for 36 years, then opened REAM Real Estate. She loved helping people achieve their dreams of “home ownership”. She loved life and family and was active in community affairs, supported football, church, school and FFA. She loved sports, especially basketball, serving as cheerleader at Glenford High School for six years. She also loved seeing her granddaughter play softball!
Marjorie served as organist for 20+ years at St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was a member, sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, served as Council member, and belonged to St. Paul ELCA Women. She later joined Grace Lutheran Church in Thornville and was active with the Bell Choir, church choir, and Women of the Church. Marjorie belonged to Safford CCL, Farm Bureau, honorary member of the Sheridan High School FFA, member of the Sheridan Minstrel, Ohio and National Association of Realtors, Perry County Board of Realtors serving as Secretary for 20+ years and ASOREB, and also trustee of Southeastern Ohio Board of Realtors for Perry County. She was awarded REALTOR EMERITUS on November 25, 2008 for recognition of forty cumulative years of membership in the National Association of Realtors and State of Ohio recognition of realtors for her lasting contribution to the real estate profession in the community.
Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Michelle (David) Ream Smith of Somerset, and her special granddaughter, Amanda Nicole Ream (Derek) Cavins of Verona, Kentucky; great-grandsons, Chris and Wyatt; sister-in-law, Ruth Cotterman of Orwell; brother-in-law, James Adcock of Westerville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Paul J. Ream; her brothers, Lee Cotterman, Robert (Barbara) Cotterman, and Urban Cotterman; sisters, Eileen Secoy, Wanda (Doc) Warner, and Patricia Adcock; and a special friend, Willard Thompson.
Private family services will be held at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset with Pastor Lee Crader officiating. Burial will follow in Somerset Cemetery.
