Linda Gaylynn (Hall) Smart, 80, of Glenford, Ohio, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Memphis, Texas on February 5, 1943, the fourth of four daughters to R. Doyle and Lou Nadine (Crawford) Hall. She graduated from Lakeview High School in 1961.
Gaylynn enjoyed supporting her grandchildren in their numerous activities. She was actively involved in church through her volunteer work as a youth group leader and conference representative. She loved singing in the church choir. A highlight of her life was traveling and working with Roger, especially the work trips to Hawaii. She enjoyed being creative by sewing, painting, jewelry making, crocheting, photography, and scrapbooking. Family history was important, and she traced her lineage back to 1010 in England. She did kind of like her three kids, too.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and three sisters, Reba, Bobbie, and Sue. She is survived by Roger, her loving husband of 61 years; daughter Debbie (Jeff) Baker; sons Curtis (Julie) Smart and Brian (Peggy) Smart, along with grandchildren Matthew Baker, Nicholas (Nicole) Baker, Samantha Baker, Andrew Baker, Clayton (Cassandra) Smart, Dylan (Tabitha) Smart, Joseph Smart, Austin Smart, Charles Smart, Megan Smart, and Shelby Smart, bonus grandchildren Jean (Robert) McGuire, Dustin (Heather) Hicks, and Rollin Abbott; great-grandchildren Gunner Smart, Cason Smart, Lincoln Smart, River Smart, Sadie Smart, and Elise Baker, bonus great-grandchildren Jax, Colton, Hunter, and Riley, as well as countless nieces and nephews whom she held close.
As per her wish, she will be cremated and will be laid to rest in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Brownsville.
There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. in the followship hall at Hopewell United Methodist Church. The family requests that no flowers be sent, however, monetary donations or donations of non-perishable food may be brought to support the Hopewell-Madison Food Pantry (memorial donations can be mailed: c/o Marla Largent, PO Box 800, Somerset, Ohio 43783).
