Laureen E. Harlan, 66, of Thornville, Ohio, passed away after a long hard-fought nine-year battle with cancer, at her residence on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, surrounded by her family. She is finally at peace and reunited with her daddy.
Laureen was born March 20, 1960, in Newark, Ohio, the daughter of the late CPL. Lewis E. Barb Jr. She will be best remembered for being “Grammy,” her homestyle cooking, working for Clark’s Dining Room, her love for arts and crafts, sewing anything from costumes to quilts, her well maintained and decorated front porch, and watching a scary movie while eating pizza and drinking root beer, which was her ideal Friday night. Until the day she died, she put others before herself. That’s just the type of person she was and what a blessing it was to be loved by her. She was a very loving wife, momma, grandma (Grammy), sister, aunt and friend.
She is survived by her husband, Wesley T. Harlan, whom she married September 27, 2003; sons, Jack Patterson and Lukas (Kellie) Harlan; daughters, Jammie Lane, Deedra (Kody) Moss, Lacey (Brian) Carle; grandchildren, Kylee Patterson, Nick Lane, Noah Patterson, Brooklinn Patterson, Knox Patterson, Waylon Harlan, Mylo Moss, and Wyatt Harlan; one sister, Lisa (Bruce) Corsi; one brother, Lewis Barb III; her mother-in-law, JoEllen Harlan; sister-in-law, Kathy Launder; brother-in-law, Philip Harlan; and special friend, Connie Gray.
She was preceded in death in addition to her father, by her father-in-law, Thomas F. Harlan, sister-in-law, Julie Kinney; and her beloved dog, Pete.
A Celebration of Life by the family will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at the Barn at the Backwoods, 8572 High Point Rd., Thornville, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Perry County Cancer Alliance, P.O. Box 724, New Lexington, Ohio 43764.
Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset is entrusted with the arrangements.
