Larry Wayne Hynus, 78, of Somerset, passed away Sunday, December 12, 2021 during a brief respite at Altercare of Somerset, while his caregiver was recovering from surgery.
Larry was born August 20, 1943, the son of the late Jesse Wayne and Florence Irene (Litchfield) Hynus. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force from 1961-1966 and was employed for many years by Essex Wire and Kings Sawmill.
Larry normally kept to himself and marched to the beat of his own drum, and though he may not have had many friends, if he considered you one, you were a cherished friend. In the past you could likely have found him enjoying a cup of coffee with his friends at the “liars table” within Somerset’s local establishments as well as the American Legion in Fultonham. Larry also operated a firewood business with his brother Lee and friend Jim Arnold, which supplied many families throughout Muskingum and Perry Counties. He took pride in the care of his lawn, the woodland park and flowers he created on his property and providing hostas planted throughout the village of Somerset.
Larry is survived by one sister, Linda Turner of Buckeye Lake; two brothers, Gary “Ike” (Nancy) Hynus and Jerry “Lee” (Rose) Hynus, with whom he resided and provided his care, all of Somerset; nine nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews; and special close friend, Phyllis Shoemaker.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 15, 2021 with Pastor Daniel Fullen officiating. Burial will follow in Somerset Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio.
