Kenneth Raymond Elick of Rushville, Ohio, died Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Pickering House in Lancaster, Ohio. Kenneth was born September 29, 1948, at Lancaster Fairfield Medical Center. He graduated from Fairfield Union High School in 1966. Upon finishing high school, he served as a welder in the United States Navy for 4 years on the U.S.S. Independence. After leaving the Navy, he worked at Altons Foundry and for various other employers before retiring. He was a member of the AMVETS in Thornville, Ohio. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and also enjoyed golfing and spending time outdoors with his family. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Carl K. Elick and Jane (Mack) Vanhorn; his brothers, Allen (Fuzz) Elick and Leo (Mouse) Elick. Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Margaret “Yogi” (Dennison) Elick; son, Troy (Heidi) Elick; brothers, James (Debbie) Elick, Daniel (Karen) Elick, Ronald (Cammie) Elick; sisters, Ronda (James) Stanley, Karla (Mike) Goff; grandkids, Chelsey Elick, Colton Elick, Alyssa Smathers, and Jacob Elick; great grandkids, Lawrence and Jewel Smathers; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. A memorial graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2024, in Zion Ridge Cemetery, High Point Rd., Thornville, Ohio, with the Rev. Karen Walters officiating. Friends may call 30 minutes prior to the service at the cemetery. Graveside military honors will be provided by the Somerset American Legion Leo Ryan Post 58.
