Judith Kay McGaughey, 82, of Junction City, passed away on Tuesday, July 6, 2021. Judy was born second oldest of eleven children to Boyd and Audrey (Smith) Chivington in Montezuma, Ohio on February 12, 1939. She graduated from Memorial High School, St. Marys, Ohio in 1957 and from Miami Valley Hospital School of Nursing in Dayton, Ohio in 1960 and worked for two physicians in Dayton. On June 2, 1963, she and John were married in St. Marys, Ohio and resided in Dayton, Ohio until 1965, they bought their farm in Junction City, Ohio and moved to Perry County in 1967. Judy was employed by Ketcham’s Nursing Home for several years as well as Snider-Flautt Lumber, Inc. for many years. Since 1984, she had been the owner of Judy’s Upholstery from her home in Junction City and loved to sew and quilt, donating many of her quilts to people in need, especially children. Judy was also an active, life-time member of the Perry County Historical and Cultural Arts Society and attended the First United Methodist Church in New Lexington, Ohio for many years. Judy is survived by her loving husband, John Jr. and sons, John III (Belinda Buck) and Joe (Sherri Malone); grandchildren, Mikayla McGaughey and Andrew McGaughey (Jacelyn Fisher); her siblings, Bryce (Carol), Byron (Pam) and Kenneth, all of St. Marys, Ohio, Sharon Zizelman of Coldwater, Ohio, and Melissa (Dr. William) Canfield of Oklahoma City, OK; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her mother and father-in-law, John Sr. and Leoma McGaughey; brothers, Richard and Roger Chivington; sister, Corla Hoelscher; infant sisters, Annette and Deborah; brothers-in-law, Robert Hoelscher and Louis Zizelman; and sister-in-law, Lynda Chivington. No services will be observed.
