Joseph Clayton VanSickle, 65, of Somerset, was called home on Wednesday, February 17, 2021.
Joe was born July 10, 1955. He was a good ol’ boy from Perry County. As a Navy veteran, he took great pride in his hometown and didn’t hesitate to throw in a helping hand to spruce up the town for it’s annual Memorial Day Celebration. As an avid concert goer, you could always count on Joe to gift you a ticket to see your favorite band. You could say he was the Buckeye’s biggest fan! He was also a classic car collector and made sure his grandkids were left one in his remembrance.
Joe is survived by his mother JoLane Strohl; brothers, Richard (Patsy) VanSickle, Tim (Debbie) VanSickle, Jay Padgett; children, Justin (Jessie) VanSickle, Candice (Tommy) VanSickle; grandchildren, Kiya, Taban, Josie, and Karis; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard VanSickle; a brother, Oliver Thomas VanSickle; and two sisters, Lisa Pennell and Barbara Roush.
Joe’s kindness, stories and laughs will be greatly missed. “Shine on you crazy diamond”.
A service for Joe will be held in front of the Somerset American Legion on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a celebration of life luncheon at the same location. All friends and family are welcome to attend.
Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset is entrusted with the arrangements.
