John Michael “Sweet Pea” Swinehart, 54, of Somerset, died at 2:20 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Riverside Methodist Hospital following a stroke and truck accident.
John was born June 18, 1966 in Zanesville, Ohio, the son of Mary M. (Snider) Swinehart of Somerset and the late Larry L. “Butch” Swinehart (1998). He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and a 1984 graduate of Sheridan High School. John and his brother Dave were known in the truck pulling business as “Tinker Toy”, following their dad’s passion. John worked for Keith Taylor Trucking as a dump truck driver.
He is survived, in addition to his mother, by a brother, David Swinehart of the home and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset and one hour prior to the service at the cemetery. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2021 in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with the Rev. Mr. Gene Dawson officiating.
