John Begg "JB" Moonan II

John Begg Moonan II “JB”, 72, of Lancaster, OH passed away on December 20, 2021 at his home after a long, hard battle. John was born on May 6, 1949 to John and Mary Moonan in Kokomo, IN. He was a graduate of Kokomo High School, Class of 1967. After graduation, JB made his was to California where he lived for over 20 years, before settling in Certerburg, OH to raise his boys around family. John moved to Lancaster, OH 15 years ago where he resided with his wife, Judy and his buddy, Walter. John was a self-employed master carpenter who loved the water and the outdoors. He loved life and all the adventures that it entailed. He loved bow hunting, fishing, building boats, traveling, telling stories, and making custom fishing lures, but he was happiest when he was spending time with his family and friends. JB is survived by his loving wife, Judy, his sons, Patrick (Brittany) and Christopher (Kate), step-children, Stacy Smith (Rick), Angelina Cassady (Matt), Jamie Banks (Jeff), Chuck Pickett (Heather), and Jarod Pickett, and his grandchildren, Jarett, Chloe, Eddie B, Ella Rose, Conor, Jackson, Sofia, Mallory, Simon, Aiden, Macie, and Ashley. He is also survived by his sister, Joan Hjalmquist (Lars), his niece, Karen Root (Mike and children MG and Conrad), and his nephew, Rodney. John was preceded in death by his parents. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at South Shore Ministries located at 8335 Twp. Hwy. 391, Thornville, OH. The service will begin at 2:00 p.m. and is open to all who knew and loved John. Memorial contributions may be made to FairHope Hospice & Palliative Care, 282 Sells Rd.
