Joan E. Barker, 58, of Somerset, died at 11:13 p.m. Friday, August 9, 2019 at OSU Medical Center in Columbus. Joan was born February 8, 1961 in Zanesville, Ohio to the late Thomas Smith and June Upvall Wise. She cleaned homes in Florida and formerly worked at Mount Perry Foods. She was an avid reader and spent numerous hours in the library. Joan is survived by her daughter, Kristina F. Miller of Junction City; a son, Kyle E. (Cristi) Barker of North Carolina; four grandchildren, Tiandra A. Johnson, Kody Ryan Douglas Abelli, Hannah G. Barker and Eli M. Barker; five sisters, Margaret (Danny) Brooks of Junction City, Sarah (Gail) Swackhammer of Crooksville, Mary (Harold) Fry of Kansas, Tammy Ceja of Arizona, and Pamela Kraynik of Arizona. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Edna M. Wells and Amy Wise; and two brothers, David and Scott Wise. A cremation was held at her request, with a memorial service to be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home, P.O.
