Jerald Householder Obituary

Jerald Lynn Householder “Jerry, Pops” completed his journey and began his well-deserved rest in Heaven after passing peacefully at home in Somerset, Ohio on Saturday, March 25 at the age of 75. Jerry was born at the family homestead in Junction City, Ohio on January 2, 1948. Jerry graduated from New Lexington high school in 1966, served his country and was honorably discharged from the US Army in 1969, then earned an associate degree in forestry management from Hocking College. Jerry provided for his family working as a printing press operator for 30 plus years and enjoyed 13 years of busy retirement spending his time as he chose. Jerry and his wife Kathy have been married for 54 years and he loved, cherished, and cared for her throughout. He was an awesome dad who loved spending time with his sons working on home projects, watching sports, and sharing his guidance and support. Pops adored his grandkids and they brought him enormous joy and they never failed to make each other laugh. Jerry loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and sipping a pina colada on the beach. Jerry was a self-taught handyman and craftsman who could design, build, and fix anything he put his mind to. He was an avid Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Browns, and Columbus Blue Jackets fan, each of which caused him much frustration. Jerry showed his heart through acts of service and was quick to jump on any opportunity to assist family, friends, and neighbors. It was a blessing to know his generosity, humor, work-ethic, strength, determination, and conviction in his beliefs. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Harley and Bernice, and his brothers Harley “Doc” and Robert “Bob.” Jerry is survived by his wife Kathryn “Kathy”, sons Kelby, Trent (Tiarra), and Dustin, his brothers Ronald, Larry (Donna), and Darrell “Jay,” and grandchildren Kendall and Maxwell. In respect of Jerry’s wishes, no memorial services will be held. He will be privately honored by immediate family and his ashes spread at his favorite spot in the woods when the leaves begin to crunch. He was a good man. He was loved. He will be missed.
