James Edward Messer Jr., 60, of Somerset, formerly of Bexley, Ohio and Jennies Creek, WV, died unexpectedly at his residence. James was born April 10, 1960 in Columbus, Ohio, the son of the late James Edward Messer Sr. and Ruby Jean Baisden Messer Johnson. He was the owner/operator of B&K Erector Fence Company for many years. He retired from Baltimore Paper Mill where he was a machine operator. He loved working on cars and especially hot rods. James was the biggest fan of his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter, Kendra Ann (Shaun) Jones of Thornville; one son, Ethan James (Chloe Crofton) Messer of Newark; three grandchildren, Isabelle June, Aiden Thomas and Emily Jean Jones; his step-father, Charles Johnson of Bexley; a sister, Linda Mercer of Bexley; his close friend Brenda Howard, the mother of his children; and many aunts, uncles and cousins all of Kermit, WV. A caring cremation was performed at James’ request. A celebration of life and private burial will be held at a later date in Jennies Creek, WV. www.bopethomasfuneralhome.com
