James George "Jim" Harris

James “Jim” George Harris, 82 of Somerset, passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at his residence. Jim was born March 4, 1941 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Troy and Esther (Baxter) Harris. He was a graduate of West High School and retired from Western Electric. Jim was a member of the Buckeye Rod Builders and truly enjoyed his 1939 Chevy. He was a member of the Central Ohio 4WD Club and participated in mud runs and hill climbing in his 1946 Jeep. Jim’s one favorite spot was his garage, where you could find him tinkering on anything with an engine. His second favorite spot was the pond where he would take his beloved dog, Jack. Jim is survived by his wife, Joanne “Jo” and July marks their 60th Wedding Anniversary. He also leaves a daughter and son-in-law, Julie and John Allen; a son, Jason Harris; grandchildren: Ryan, Andrea, Mandi, Amanda, Aaron, Casey; great-grandchildren: Madison, Mallory, Mary Kate, Bernadette, Alayna, Hailey; brothers-in-law: Mike and Karen Murnane, Tim Murnane, Dan and Ann Murnane and nieces and nephews. Special thank you to Interim Hospice and the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at the Somerset American Legion, 107 East Gay Street, Somerset, Ohio. Please dress casual.
