Irene C. (Kilbarger) Lentz, 89, of Angel Ridge Farm, Somerset, Ohio, embarked on her final journey at 6:12 p.m. Sunday, January 12, 2025, at FairHope Hospice and Palliative Care (Pickering House) with her family by her side.
Irene was born September 18, 1935, in Perry County, Ohio, the daughter of the late George E. and Irene (Shonk) Kilbarger. She was a devout member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church where she sang in the choir for over 40 years. Irene was a life member of Somerset American Legion Leo Ryan Post 58 Ladies Auxiliary since 1962, where she served as past president for many years, VFW, AmVets and the 8et40.
Irene and Richard traveled with the American Legion adventures and saw much of America. She could make the best fruit pies and would always try to call and sing “Happy Birthday”. She loved and cared for her family very much.
Irene is survived by her children, Timothy Neil (Kathryn) Lentz of Somerset, Thomas Richard (Rolland) Lentz of Wooster, Sandra (Gregory) Siegwald of Michigan, Douglas Andrew (Lisa) Lentz of Somerset and James Patrick (Annette Moore) Lentz of Somerset; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Lentz of Macedonia; 17 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and step-grandchildren; one brother, Richard Kilbarger of Florida; and a sister-in-law, Sharon Clouse.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard N. Lentz; two sons, Joseph Edward Lentz and David Michael Lentz; brothers, Harold, George, Neil, Raymond, Jerome, and Thomas Kilbarger; and three sisters, Anita Fox, Regina Kessler and Rita Uhl.
Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, January 19, 2025, at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 20, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Andre’ Joseph LaCasse, O.P. as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
