Hazel R. (Taylor) Crane

Hazel R. Crane, 103, of Somerset, passed away at 12:20 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Pickering House Hospice. Hazel was born March 13, 1920, in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of the late William L. and Anna Janie Taylor. She was a graduate of Central High School, a member of the Somerset United Methodist Church, Somerset United Methodist Women, former member of Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America, White Shrine of Jerusalem, Women in Construction, Past Commander of Navy Mothers Club of America Columbus Chapter, Past Matron of Light ‘O Day O.E.S. #472, life member of VFW #9473 Auxiliary in Reynoldsburg, Thornville O.E.S. and Thornville Seniors, and charter member of the Order of Amaranth Harmony Court #51. Hazel was formerly employed by Capital Refrigeration and Liebert Corp, D.C.S.C., and retired from Newark Air Force Base. She was a craft leader for 15 years at the Perry County Senior Center and was a member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program since 1983. She is survived by a daughter, Beverly Jeanne (Larry) Ferneau of Pataskala; two sons, Dennis L. (Janice) Crane and Steven C. Crane, both of Somerset; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Ronald Crane, whom she married February 1, 1940; two brothers, William H. and Roy E. Taylor; and three sons, Ronald J., William, and Michael E. Crane. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2023, at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 28, 2023, at the Somerset United Methodist Church, 139 E. Main St., Somerset, Ohio with the Rev. Karen Walters officiating.
