Harold Edward Gibson

Harold Edward Gibson, 82, of Somerset, went to be with the Lord at 2:40 p.m. Monday, August 6, 2018 at FairHoPe Hospice in Lancaster, Ohio. Harold was born April 8, 1936 in Kenton, Ohio, the son of the late Ben and Louise Sullivan Gibson. He attended the Somerset United Methodist Church, and served in the Ohio National Guard. Harold was an avid motorcycle rider with his wife and they loved to travel. He was a member of New Lexington Eagles #2070, Newark Eagles #387, New Lexington Elks, and the Somerset American Legion Leo Ryan Post 58. Harold was a retired heavy equipment welder and mechanic for Carson Coal Company and had been employed by Ruan Trucking, Kirk National Lease and Ryder Trucking. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Harold is survived by his wife of 38 years, Nancy E. Colvin Gibson, whom he married June 12, 1980; one son and two daughters, James (Gail) Gibson, Cindi (Richard) Odrick, and Jessica (Brian) West; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one daughter, Michelle Howdyshell and her children, Cherry (Kevin) Lambert, David Howdyshell, and Daniel (Alisa Treadway) Howdyshell; one great-grandson and one great-granddaughter; close motorcycle friends, Steve and Roberta McGrath. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Debbie and Jennifer; and an infant brother. A caring cremation was requested by Harold with no calling hours or service to be observed. Memorial contributions may be made to the Perry County Cancer Alliance, P.O.
