George Emerson Hankison, 79, of Lancaster, Ohio, formerly of Somerset, Ohio, entered into eternal life at 6:04 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at his home following a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
George was born March 4, 1942 to the late Emerson “Pete” and Hazel Adams Hankison. He was a member and co-founder of Spring Hills Community Church of Somerset. He was a Navy veteran and owned and operated G.E. Hankison and Associates, a residential real estate firm.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lois (Koblentz) Hankison of the home; daughters, Beth (Bruce) Mann of Decatur, Alabama and Jennifer (Alan) Tipton of Baltimore, Ohio; six grandchildren, Sarah and Ethan Mann, Ashley (Jake) Mueller, Haley (Mitchell) Perry, Alec Riley Tipton and Emily Tipton; brother, Dick (Wanda) Hankison of Springfield, Ohio; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, April 11, 2021 at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset and one hour prior to the service at the church. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 12, 2021 at Spring Hills Community Church with Pastor Ryan Tooill officiating. COVID guidelines will be observed. Burial will follow in New Lexington Cemetery where graveside military honors will be provided by the Somerset American Legion Leo Ryan Post 58.
