George Edward Busby

George Edward Busby, 55, of Somerset, Ohio, earned his wings on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at 3:35 p.m. at his home after a 10 year long, hard fought, courageous battle with kidney cancer surrounded by his loving family. George was born December 6, 1965, in Steubenville, Ohio, to the late Raymond A., Sr. and Margaret Rose (Werkin) Busby. He was a 1984 graduate of Steubenville High School, and married Kimberly A. (Fisher) Busby on June 28, 1990. He was a loving husband, father, and friend to many. His family was the most important thing in his life, and his sons, Jonathan and Josh were his pride and joy. George enjoyed making people laugh and was a laid back, kind-hearted, fun-loving person who enjoyed life and meeting new people. He was an avid fan and promoter of the Sheridan Football Program and all that it stands for, and for which both of his boys played. He loved his travels to the St. Pete Florida area annually with his wife Kim, since his diagnosis in 2011. George was a press operator, working for Worthington Steel for 29 years. He will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. George is survived by his wife of 31 years, Kimberly Busby; two sons, Jonathan Edward Busby (fiance’ Alyssa Randolph), and Joshua Ryan Busby, both of Somerset; brothers, Robert (Chris) Busby of Columbus; Paul (Lisa) Busby of Steubenville; sisters, Teresa Fleming of Mingo Junction, OH and Kimberly Busby of Florida; and dear friends, Darren and Gerry (Winegardner) Mattis and Derrick Mattis (like a 3rd son) of Thornville. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by brothers, Raymond A. Busby, Jr., John A Busby, and Michael T. Busby; sisters, Catherine (infant), Sharon A. Busby, and Debra Baldwin. A celebration of life for George will be held from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, August 8, 2021 at the Somerset American Legion, 107 East Gay St., Somerset, Ohio.
