Evelyn B. (Founds) Gotschall, 96, of Somerset, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at FairHope Hospice, Pickering House in Lancaster, Ohio, surrounded by her loving family. Evelyn was born April 28, 1930, in Akron, Ohio, the daughter of the late Joie and Elsie (Barton) Founds. She grew up on a farm east of Chandlersville and graduated in 1947 from Chandlersville High School, then went to work at Stanley Home Products in Zanesville, Ohio. On May 23, 1948, she married James E. Gotschall. Evelyn was a member of the Somerset Community Church where she was vice president of the United Methodist Women and served on several committees. She was a 4-H advisor in Glenford from 1962-1964. She was a member of Robert Young O.C.C.L, delivered Meals on Wheels and was an Avon representative for two years. Surviving are two daughters, Elaine Foster of Thornville, OH and Jean O’Neil of Pleasantville, OH, one son, David (Cindy) Gotschall of South Charleston, OH; sisters-in-law, Wanda Founds of Chandlersville and Betty Founds of Rushville; nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Jim; her brothers Weldon, Emerson, Virgil, Garret (Gary) Founds, sisters Lillian Shaw, Leah McCurdy, and a son-in-law, Robert (Bob) Foster. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the Somerset Community Church, 139 E. Main St., Somerset, Ohio, where services will be held at 12:00 noon with the Rev. Karen Walters officiating. Burial will follow in Community Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church.
