With deep sadness, we announce the passing of our mother, Ethel M. Hammond (McCauley) on Sunday, June 8, 2025. Ethel was born August 19, 1934, and was 90 years old. She passed peacefully at her home of 20 years in Lancaster, Ohio. She is survived by 7 of her 8 children, Cindy Hammond, Patty Padgett (Terry), Danny Hammond, Susan Ruble (Blaine), Lora Prater, Michael Hammond, and Melisa Clarke (Alaric). She was a grandmother to 21 grandchildren, one whom preceded her in death, and a great grandmother to multiple great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Elizabeth Bieber. Ethel did volunteer work with her church throughout her lifetime. She was an excellent seamstress and did upholstery work as well throughout her lifetime. She was also a very dedicated employee to her job with the New Lexington Senior Citizen Center in her younger years. She offered support to her family and bestowed upon them her wisdom. Friends may call from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2025, at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home, 203 S. Columbus St., Somerset, where services will be held at 4:30 p.m. with the Rev. Karen Walters officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Somerset Cemetery, P.O. Box 188, Somerset, Ohio 43783.
