Elizabeth Axline Obituary

Elizabeth Anne (Henery) Axline, 68, of Somerset, passed away at her home on Sunday, November 26, 2023, surrounded by her family. Beth was born June 8, 1955, in Zanesville, Ohio, to the late Margaret Cecilia and Elmer Donald Henery. She attended Holy Trinity Catholic School and later graduated from Sheridan High School, class of 1973. She attended nursing school and worked as a nurse for over 40 years, working at Good Samaritan Hospital, the Clouse Clinic, and Dr. Jeffery VanMeter’s office. She continued using her skills to care for family and friends for many years after. In 1975, she married her high school sweetheart, love of her life, and husband of 48 years, Craig Axline and they moved into their home in Somerset. A home that raised three children, Dawn (Jason), Derek (Shelly), and Drew (Emily), and housed Sunday dinners, trick or treat hangouts, and Christmas Eve gatherings full of family, neighbors, and friends. No one left without a full belly and full heart. Their marriage included countless trips to sporting events of all kinds at Miller and Sheridan High Schools and across the state. She was a cheerleader for all of her children and grandchildren’s teams and was never afraid to start a “Let’s Go Red” cheer. ‘Grams’ was easily her favorite title given to her by her pride and joy, her 11 grandchildren whom she loved ‘a bushel and a peck’. Beth served her community all her life and was a proud member of the Somerset American Legion Women’s Auxiliary Post 58, and devout member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church where she served on the Rosary Altar Society. She would never pass up a yard sale, a good bargain, or a Hallmark movie and a glass of wine. She is survived by her husband, Craig Axline; her children and grandchildren, Dawn (Jason) Conrad, Emma Conrad (Ty Taylor), Grace Conrad, and Simon Conrad; Derek (Shelly) Axline, Brady, Bailey, and Ben Axline; Drew (Emily) Axline, Mae, Henery, Nora, Rose, and Anne Axline; her brothers, Patrick (Beverly) Henery, and Thomas Henery; sister-in-law, Sharla (Kim) Snedden; brother-in-law, Dallas Axline; her aunt, Mary Anne McGreevy; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Timothy Henery. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at the Somerset Community Church, 139 E. Main St., Somerset, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Andre’ Joseph LaCasse, O.P. as celebrant. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Catholic School, or the Rosary Altar Society. Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset is entrusted with the arrangements. www.bopethomasfuneralhome.com
