Dorothy Lee Shumway, 91, of Somerset, passed away Monday October 20, 2025, at Pickering House.
Dorothy was born on September 25, 1934, in Parkersburg, WV, to the late James M. and Grace Baker. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Joseph Shumway, brothers Tom and Don Baker. She graduated at the age of 16 from Parkersburg High School in West Virgina. She worked for Porter, Wright, Morris and Arthur as a legal secretary and eventually retired from The Ohio State Attorney General office. Dorothy enjoyed planning many family vacations with her loved ones. Dorothy continued to live happily on their mini farm that she lovingly crafted with her late husband Joe near Somerset for the past 56 years.
Dorothy was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by her family; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Tollie Shumway; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Mark Otto; grandchildren, Jacob and Emmi Shumway, Jordan and Ryan (Ratliff) Shumway, and Courtney and Matthew Otto; great-grandchildren, Jace and Grace Shumway; sister-in law, Joan Baker; granddaughter of the heart, Heather Otto and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Friday October 24, 2025, at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday October 25, 2025 . Burial will follow in Somerset Cemetery.
