Dorothy I. (Clayton) Pettit

Dorothy I. Pettit, 93, of Somerset, passed away at 8:35 p.m. Monday, August 15, 2022, at Main Street Terrace Care Center in Lancaster. Dorothy was born December 20, 1928, in East Fultonham, Ohio, the daughter of the late Elmer and Mazie (Carson) Clayton. She attended Fultonham Elementary School and graduated from Roseville High School in 1947. Dorothy enjoyed ceramics, gardening, mowing, and helping others. She loved her family and her collection of dolls. She was a member of the North Market Street Church of Christ in Somerset. She is survived by her three daughters, Linda (Mike) Henery of Somerset, Brenda (Larry) Miller of Roseville, and Connie Jenkins of Pataskala; two sons, R. Michael (Cheryl) Pettit of Lancaster and Dave Pettit of Thornville; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; and one sister, Elda Rodgers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ralph Pettit (Sept. 2010); two grandsons, Jeremy Winegardner and Michael E. Pettit; two sisters, Mildred Coble and Donna Bowden; and four brothers, Maurice, Ralph, Lester, and Dale Clayton. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Thursday, August 18, 2022, at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 19, 2022, with Doug Oakes officiating.
