Obituary

Doris L. Shrider of Thornville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 11, 2020 at the age of 94. Doris was born July 12, 1926 to the late Freed and Rozella Orr Gordon. She was married to Woodrow “Ham” Shrider for 45 years, until his death on March 18, 1992. She was a graduate of Thornville High School class of 1944 and Bliss Business College class of 1945. She taught school at Glenford High School, was a secretary for 13 years for the Cooperative Extension Service and a clerk for Hopewell Township. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Glenford, Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 342, and the Thornville Senior Citizens. She enjoyed being with her family, traveling and playing cards. Doris is survived by one son, Michael (Daryl) Shrider of Newark, one daughter, Brenda (Charles) Shearer of Thornville; grandchildren, Casey (James) Sigler of Logan, Leslie (Shaun) O’Hara of Newark, Greg Odom of Colorado, Josh (Mary) Shearer of Rushville, Lindsey McCullough of Thornville; the joy of her life, great-grandchildren, Kayle, Josie and Seth Sigler, Emily and Liam O’Hara, Abigail Shearer, Ana Drumm, Jack McCullough and Isabelle Emmert; and a sister, Margaret Winegardner. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, December 17, 2020 in Highland Cemetery, Glenford with Pastor Paul Hansen officiating.
