Dixon David Snider, 79, of Somerset, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at his residence. Dixon was born on September 22, 1945, in Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville, Ohio, the son of the late Jacob “Jack” and Marjorie (Yeager) Snider of Somerset. He was a 1963 graduate of Sheridan High School. He joined the Navy in the fall of 1963 and served on several ships including the USS Turner Joy and the USS John King. After his tour of duty, he spent several years in Perth, Australia and, Johannesburg, South Africa. He returned to Somerset in 1973 and remained until his death. He is preceded in death in addition to his parents, by his brother, Thomas I. Snider of Perth, Australia. He is survived by his sister, Jaclyn Snider Jerabek, many cousins and loving friends. Friends may call from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2025, at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2025, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Somerset with Father Andre’ Joseph LaCasse, O.P. as celebrant. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery with the Somerset American Legion Leo Ryan Post 58 providing military honors.
