Dixie “June” Foster, 91, of Somerset, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
She was born June 4, 1934, to the late Fred and Ethel (McClintock) Baker in Jacksontown, Ohio, where she graduated in 1952. After working for the Newark Telephone Office, she met and married her one true love, Carl Foster, on June 8, 1955, four days after turning 21. She moved to the farm and raised a family of four girls, Jenny (Dave) Clark, Becky (Dave) Fontanarosa, Glenna Foster (Rick Roshon), and Dawn (Vince) Probasco.
June was the head cook at Sheridan High School for over 25 years. She was an active member of the Somerset Community Church, Thornville Chapter #156 Order of the Eastern Star, and the Martha Rebekah Lodge #22 IOOF.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband whom she lovingly cared for during his extended illness; siblings Ella Jane Parsons, Georgianna Rutledge, and Glen “Bo” Baker.
In addition to her children, she is survived by her grandchildren, Matt (Kristina) Parsley, Sarah (Jeremiah) Slagle, Brian (Chantel) Fontanarosa, Geena (Clay) Crosby, Cassie Yinger, Ashley (Jay) Grant, Hilary (Cory) Brame, Garrison Probasco (Destinee), Owen and Clark Probasco; great-grandchildren, William, Anna, Logan, Dylyn, Hunter, Caleb, Kayla (Cam), Andrew, Kory, Nataly, Lanora, Arabel and Grayson; her first great-great-grandchild due in May; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, November 16, 2025, at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset where Eastern Star services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 17, at the Somerset Community Church, 139 E. Main St., Somerset, Ohio with the Rev. Karen Walters officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Somerset Cemetery.
